By the end of the book I was ready to give up the series because each of the characters are not morally grey – they can be downright disgusting. Ella is determined to fix it all.Īfter being frustrated with how abusive Reed is to Ella – this book rolls into all the problems that each character has and we find out how the majority of the characters need therapy and trigger warnings. Each of the Royal boys have problems and its tearing them apart. They want money and they are willing to manipulate everyone to get it. Ella is inheriting everything her father had, and it’s causing some upheaval.Īnd the whole book centers around these two women, the Royal girlfriend and the widow, and the havoc they are causing the family. Then, added into the mix, is Ella’s dad’s widow who is also turning out to be a not-so-good person.
Royal’s girlfriend is a huge problem and super manipulative. So she tries to put her life back together and Reed is determined to help her do so. She is still fuming, but she realizes she has made real friends and she cares for the rest of the family.
So, their dad heirs a private investigator, and they find Ella. Everyone is mad at him because he caused Ella to run away again. It was just a bit of a misunderstanding plus a dash of how his bad decisions kick back at him. Plus other characters are downright abusive as well. I don’t know if I agree that young adults should read this book because the love story is wrong. One of the boys in particular is absolutely abusive and harasses her continually, and he turns out to be the love interest – and in reality – it’s just not good. This book needs to come with a few trigger warnings.
And while the book is supposed to be a wattpad/AO3 type enemies to lovers – I can’t get past the abuse, manipulation, and hazing that goes on between the Royal family and Ella. They are rich beyond belief and straight up horrible. She had done a good job hiding herself and running from the state’s foster care system.Įlla heads home to the Royal’s place and his ungreeted by four of the Royal teenage boys. Royal claims he didn’t know she existed until a few weeks before his death. He claims that he was her dad’s best friend. Royal, but he offers her money to stay- money that will go toward her collage tuition. Then one day she got called to the principal’s office and found a stranger, a man she has never met, claiming he is her guardian.Įlla is 100% against going with this stranger, Mr. I mean, as a high school student she shouldn’t have bills to pay, but her mom passed way and Ella won’t allow herself to go into foster care.
